Spend an afternoon with Nini Hu just north of Montmartre in Paris, and you'll see why the lively neighborhood provides her with endless inspiration. As an artist, performer, and model by profession, living near the city's most iconic flea market, Marché aux Puces, uncovers many hidden gems. "Here, you'll find the most incredible art books, jewelry, and vintage fashion on any given day," she says weaving through the sun-drenched streets while sporting that other iconically French mainstay: a fresh and minimalist beauty look that carries her through 24-hours of work, play, and fitness in the City of Light.
Hu, who moved to Paris in 2015 after graduating from the National Taiwan University of Art, takes us back to her at-home atelier. She often starts her day with painting, and though her visual artwork and illustrations lean colorful and bright, she keeps her makeup natural. "I love peachy-coral tones and go for a 'no makeup' look," she says, starting her routine with cold water to wake up her skin. Then comes a 2-3 pumps of Skin Activator serum, which doubles as an ultra-hydrating primer to keep things simple.
Next is Vital Skin Foundation in Atelier V, Hu's "perfect shade match" for spot checking and brightening her under eye area. Chouchette gives cheeks a flattering peach tint that's "easy to blend," and she enhances her natural features with a signature etching of brown eye pencil along the lashlines. A coat or two of Eye Love You Mascara is a finishing touch and as an artist, Hu isn't shy to mix her Les Nudes palette for a truly customized lip. Makeup you can't mess up? C'est si bon!
