Inside Anne Hathaway’s 2023 Met Gala Look

On a night known for head-turning looks, if there's one celebrity destined to top best-dressed lists, it’s Anne Hathaway. The Oscar-winning actress is having a fashion moment, and as Donatella Versace's guest for the 2023 Met Gala, her red-carpet reveal cemented her new supercharged take on "It-girl" glamour. As a tribute to the theme—"Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty"—Hathaway's custom dress merged signature Versace design elements (gold hardware safety pins!) with Karl's house codes at Chanel (camellia flowers, tweed, pearls!).

Gucci also drew inspiration from Gianni and Karl's runways when crafting the night’s makeup look. "I was inspired by '90s supermodels, but had Anne's striking features in mind to make it contemporary," she said from a suite at The Mark in New York City, where she prepped Hathaway alongside stylist Erin Walsh and hairdresser Orlando Pita. "The whole team played off of Karl's brides from that era, reinterpreted through the lens of Versace for 2023."

Any megawatt look starts with Complexion Drops as a base with Vital Skin Foundation as concealer. For the perfect flush, Gucci blended together Minette and Petal blushes to create striking peachy-pink cheeks. Softly sculpted features, a sheer glossy lip, and a modern '90s cat eye with subtle shimmer played up Hathaway's va-va-voom hair and body-conscious gown. Then, last but not least? A sweep of powder to set things in place and Gucci's surprising makeup tool for creating an“authentically fresh skin look” that's launching later this week!
