When Gucci set out to create her dream cosmetics case in 2021, she turned to Métier founder Melissa Morris, whose thoughtful and elegant designs are made with frequent fliers in mind. Now, with summer escapes on the horizon, their three-piece collaboration is getting a crisp nautical refresh.

Taking its cues from vintage textiles, the new navy-and-cream-striped range includes a neat purse-sized pouch, a train case designed to hold your makeup essentials, and (back by popular demand!) an extra-large carryall for longer journeys. The latter comes with the same exquisitely crafted details as before: a waterproof exterior, stain-resistant lining, and a wealth of just-right compartments, plus zippered pockets.

The cherry on top? A customizable, apple-leather letter charm, which offers a bright pop of contrast in Westman Atelier's signature vibrant red. "It's chic and cheerful," Gucci says of the sustainably made flourish. "It reminds you of the joyful elements of travel."

Below, Gucci and Melissa discuss their own summer vacations—and the products they'll pack in their new oversized train cases.

Gucci's Destination

"This summer, we’re going to Rome for a couple of days with the whole family before heading to Il Pellicano on the Tuscan coast. I’ve never been to the hotel, but I hear amazing things and I love its creative director, Marie-Louise Scío."

The Itinerary

"I always enjoy long walks in Rome, but my favorite thing to do is to visit the Villa Borghese Gardens. They’re so extraordinarily beautiful; I could go over and over and over again. The Bulgari Hotel's rooftop and the courtyard of the Hotel de Russie are really nice for drinks. We’ll also hit some gelato places, of course."

The Restaurant

"Trilussa is my favorite, hands down. I dream about their white truffle pasta, which comes in a pan."

The Shop

"I can never leave Schostal! I get stacks of pajamas for myself, my family, and my friends—they're such a good gift. They also have knitwear, neck scarves, amazing socks, and cute sweaters and blouses. Luisa Orsini and Tine Peduzzi, the designers behind the Rome-based TL-180 label, told me about LGR, which has beautiful safari-inspired sunglasses. Beautyholics is also on the same block; it's really cute and well-curated—and they carry our products!"

The Packing List

"It's important to keep up my skin-care routine while traveling, so I always bring our Skin Activator Serum and Suprême C Vitamin C Concentrate, as well as La Rosée sunscreen, which is broad-spectrum and coral reef-safe. For makeup, I pack the Complexion Drops to quickly even out my skin tone, Super Loaded Tinted Highlight in Soleil for bronzed, golden-hour skin, and Lip Suede Lipstick in Je Rêve—I can use it on lips and cheeks!

Melissa's Destination

"In August, I’m going to stay at the Parco dei Sesi hotel in Pantelleria. I like to have an adventure and go somewhere off the beaten path."

The Itinerary

"I’m looking forward to disconnecting and reconnecting with nature. I'll also swim and do a lot of yoga, and I often sketch when I’m traveling."

The Restaurant

"I'm excited to go to Il Principe e il Pirata for dinner, and I was told that Il Gelato di Ulisse has the best gelato ever."

The Book

"I don’t know how I’ve never read one of Kerouac’s books, so I’m planning to bring On the Road. Being on a deserted island seems like the perfect time to do it."

The Packing List

"I always pack the Oversize Train Case with SuperGoop Glowscreen, Leonor Greyl hair products, which are great for fine hair, and Artah supplements—the GI Fix especially helps with travel. Liquid Super Loaded in Peau de Soleil gives a good glow, and, with a beachy, sun-kissed look, I do think a little bit of mascara in the evening adds a lot more than you realize. I like using Eye Want You in Le Brun. I also put the Petite pouch inside the Train Case; when I arrive, I fill it with whatever I need for the day and throw it into my beach bag."
