“Everything looks so effortless!” says Gucci as she revisits a favorite photograph of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, the late American fashion icon whose enduring style is the subject of a new book, CBK: Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy: A Life in Pictures. “She was so comfortable and confident in her own skin,” says Gucci, who forever finds inspiration in Bessette-Kennedy’s radiant clean skin and irreverent red lips. It’s a beauty look, she adds, that can move from big-night-out festivities to cozy nights in—making it an instant win for party season.

Here, Gucci celebrates the enduring beauty look that’s timeless with a quick tutorial.   “It’s super easy,” says Gucci as she enhances the complexion with translucent, luminous layers of Liquid Super Loaded in Peau de Pêche and Peau de Soleil for the right balance of believably sun-kissed color and gleam. “It always felt like there was nothing on her skin.” To softly define the eyes without looking “makeup-y,” she traces on Eye Love You Pencil in Khôl Noir, then gently smudges away any hard lines. And for a lush red mouth that’s never overblown or overlined, Gucci paints on Lip Suede in Les Rouges and cleans up edges with a bit of Vital Skin Foundation.

The trick is to keep it simple with a minimalist mindset: “Super radiant skin, not much else,” says Gucci. “It’s all about the lip.”
