On and off the red carpet, Nicole Kidman has always been a visionary risktaker. In director Halina Reijn’s new erotic-thriller, Babygirl, she’s won critical acclaim—and set A24 box office records—with her unflinchingly honest turn as a high powered CEO caught in a sexually liberating affair with her decades-younger intern.

On the 2025 Golden Globes red carpet,  Kidman (who was nominated for her performance) seemed to wink at the film’s daring subtext in a backless crystal-mesh Balenciaga dress, vintage Boucheron jewelry, a slick bouffant ponytail and a soft, bronze-gold makeup look.

“Peachy rose goddess dipped in radiance” says Gucci, who prepped the actress at home in Los Angeles,  of her makeup inspiration. “Glamorous, with undercurrents of the ’70s, but not too literal. Nicole has such exquisite skin and beautiful blue eyes—I wanted to play off that. ”

For her naturally luminous complexion, Gucci prepped with Skin Activator Serum, followed by Suprême C Serum for a hydrated, plump, dewy base.  A touch of Vital Skincare Concealer under eyes and around the nose created a pristine canvas, then a sweep of Vital Pressed Skincare Powder in Translucent set everything in place.

For sheer definition on eyes, Gucci used Dior’s bronze-gold shadow palette along with Eye Love You pencil in a rich terracotta shade of brown kohl and Eye Want You Mascara in black.

But the real magic came from a collection of peachy-bronze tones and radiant rosy accents from the new Petal Collection. On cheeks, Gucci blended Baby Cheeks Blush Sticks in Petal and Minette onto the apples, then created subtle luminous sculpting with Super Loaded Tinted Highlight in Peau de Pêche along cheekbones. Lips were filled with a rosy neutral lip liner and Lip Suede Matte Lipstick in Minx, then boosted with a swipe of Squeaky Clean Liquid Lip Balm in Petal.

For that final light-catching gleam, Lit Up Highlight in Petal gave a hint of rosy luminosity to the high points of the face—the cheek and brow bones, bridge of the nose, and Cupid’s bow.  “Our babygirl is glowing for the Globes,” wrote Kidman’s team in a shared post that went live on Instagram just moments before the awards show.  Here’s to watching more of the incandescent Kidman in the red carpet season ahead.
