The shrunken proportions of a Louis Vuitton train case. The vintage charm of Italian beach umbrellas. The Marie Kondo magic of custom storage pouches. When Gucci set out to design the perfect makeup bag collection, she knew exactly what she wanted—and who to turn to for the job. A quick phone call to Melissa Morris, founder of Métier, sealed the deal. The London-based luxury good house has long been a favorite of Gucci's for stylish, timeless, exquisitely crafted travel and tote bags. Together, the female founders dreamed up a first-of-its kind collaboration - launching today! - that distills form and function into the ultimate makeup bag trio.
"We went over so many drawings and details to make it the perfect fit!” says Gucci, who wanted something special to organize her favorite sticks, compacts and brushes. Conceived as the ultimate travel or vanity accessory, the Train Case is designed with six little pouches around the perimeter that are tailored to hold Westman Atelier sticks. For extra storage of compacts and brushes, there's also a pair of discreet zippered pouches, plus enough room to fit skincare, perfume, cotton buds, and more.
A slim envelope shape, known as The Midi, followed suit. "I love that it lays flat in an overnight bag and has a wrist strap, so it can double as a clutch," says Gucci of the oversized pouch that's made for weekend getaways. Multi-tasking is always key, she says, so on a recent trip to Paris, she transformed it into an airport-friendly organizer for passports, travel documents, and a favorite Lavett and Chin coconut face mist.
The final miniature pouch, affectionately known as The Petite, "is for everyday handbag essentials," says Gucci. She worked with Morris to ensure that four Westman Atelier blush, contour, or highlight sticks could fit snugly inside—although for quick weekend errands, she pops in a credit card, keys, and a favorite Squeaky Clean lip gloss or two instead.
Arriving in double faced linen or structured herringbone fabric, each Westman Atelier x Métier bag is water resistant and finished with a stylish heat-sealed base (in dusty rose or soft white) for extra protection. "I have to admit that I had a little spill last week,” says Gucci of a recent splash of morning coffee that landed on her Train Case, and, thankfully, rolled right off.
Should you be able to part with one, they make the ultimate holiday gift - especially when topped with a monogram ‘alphabet’ charm in vegan cognac leather. Perfect for minimalists, makeup obsessives, and that impossible ‘friend who has everything’ alike.
