"I don't like the idea of buying something on Friday, wearing it on Saturday, and being sick of it by Sunday," says Swedish fashion phenomenon Elin Kling in episode 9 of Makeup & Friends, reflecting on the "classic with an edge" approach to personal style that has made her an international sensation.
One of the original fashion bloggers, and arguably its most successful, Kling's platform became the most viewed account in Sweden within 48 hours back when it launched in 2007. Modeling, magazine editing, media mayhem, and her own capsule collection for H&M followed. Since then, Kling has made the transition to full-time fashion designer official. In 2014, she and husband Karl Lindman founded Totême, their critically acclaimed label of luxurious ready-to-wear clothing, shoes, and accessories.
Founded on the idea of curated uniform dressing, Totême's winning stye formula is all about shapes so perfect, cuts so flattering, and a palette of luxe textiles so versatile, you'll wear each piece time and again. Kling's approach to beauty takes a similarly timeless yet modern bent, anchored on flawless neutrals, a lush red lip, and the perfect shade of beige-blonde hair (courtesy of New York's Mirjam Bayoumi, in case you were wondering).
Here, she sits down with Gucci to talk about what goes into the perfect wardrobe, and all things fashion, makeup, and wellness, including why no-one does detoxing and retoxing like the Swedes.
