It’s Oscars weekend, and Cate Blanchett will soon hit the red carpet for her 8th career nomination, this time in the Best Actress category for her performance in Tár. At tonight's ceremony, she'll be positioned for her third win. “It’s bananas how talented she is,” says Gucci of Blanchett’s star power in front of the camera and behind the scenes. On this episode of “Behind The Covers,” Gucci shares the cinematic makeup that brought the pair together for Vogue’s 2004 shoot with photographer Annie Leibovitz and stylist Tonne Goodman.

Fittingly, the cover look played off of Blanchett’s role as Katharine Hepburn in The Aviator biopic which won Blanchett her first Academy Award (and earned her a place in film history as the only actor to win an Oscar for portraying another Oscar-winning actor).

Here’s everything you need to know about what Gucci describes as an Old Hollywood iconic “classic beauty” moment, from the complexion-brightening power of a burgundy lip to velvety, mattified skin. Good luck to all the 2023 nominees, and especially to you, Cate!
