On Giving Tuesday, Gucci debuts Elodie —a limited edition cushiony rosebud shade of Lip Suede that is set to support our new charity partner, SeaTrees, for the next 12 months.

“The planet's needs have never felt more important,” says Gucci,  whose deep-rooted passion for the environment began during her childhood in Sweden.  She felt moved by SeaTrees’s compelling mission to reverse climate change:   “I recently learned that 90% of all carbon in the global carbon cycle is stored in the ocean,” she says. That is the ocean’s superpower, according to SeaTrees—a California-based nonprofit that develops coastal restoration projects around the world. And we can work with it.

It’s pretty incredible: SeaTrees enables coastal communities to plant and protect blue carbon ecosystems—including mangrove and kelp forests, seagrass meadows, coral and oyster reefs—that sweep carbon dioxide from the atmosphere more effectively than even tropical rainforests and store it.

The more blue carbon ecosystems, the greater the carbon offset. And, according to the global scientific consensus, the next 10 years are critical in preventing a major climate tipping point.  (To track progress, SeaTrees is working with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and currently has 23 blue carbon projects going, with more than 4 million sea trees planted and restored to date.

Now, the easy part: Support by purchasing a lipstick.

To celebrate the feel-good partnership, Gucci created an exclusive mauve-berry shade of our ultra-saturated Lip Suede Matte Lipstick, inspired by her daughter Gray. “Her middle name is Elodie and she has these really beautiful lips, they look like they've just been juiced,” says Gucci.

“It is so, so beautiful.” Simply, nature at its best.
